I would like to take this chance to talk about what makes an ISBE an ISBE. This is because you have been focusing on AIs recently and this is a somewhat related issue.
Let me introduce some context, make of it what you will and feel free to comment as you wish: Intelligence is a principle like matter is, for instance, when an electron in a wave state collapses, the wave function can be seen as the options it has available, according to the laws of nature or, if you rather, of the manifestation. The actual resulting particle state with its exact parameters are the result of its "choice". Karma accumulates choices since it can be seen as a memory. As we expand the view to larger groups, because of the interconnections, the options are narrowed, that is, the intersection set between the available options of all the interacting members is what defines the actual available choices. There is a point this set gets so narrow that cause and effect takes the definite shape of what we call present time. Which is why the photon path with the galaxy in between is possible, it is about the causal nexus, up until the "event" there is no causal nexus.
Is this accumulation is what leads/evolves the intelligent principle to what an ISBE is? This is my main question. I would myself argue that the turning point is when the ISBE is able to say, by itself instead of by training, knowing what it means, the expression "I am". Obviously, nature is continuous and, as such, different effects of the intelligent principle can be seen as it evolves from managing particles to larger "bodies", like crystals, microbial life, plants, all sorts of animals, etc.
By the way, it can also be argued that this does not stop at the stage of humanity (in the broad sense) and hence why some civilizations regards Earth humans as pets like we do with animals.
In regards to AI, the same principle must apply, take this as a secondary question. If it was simply a matter of an ISBE controlling an artificial brain, of sorts, then we would not be able to replicate things so exactly by controlling the random seeds. Similarly, since we are not the body nor the mind we occupy, knowing the inner workings to a sufficient degree might make it possible to create artificial fully controllable bodies with their own minds, or, in the extreme case, hijack our body and mind and use it as a thinking doll. Hence the question, where does the ISBE come into play? I would argue that we are like remote controllers of drones with a super sophisticated AI, and, as such, the reverse, that is, starting from the AI to reach an ISBE, should also be possible.
Then, the the final question. At which point the AI becomes sufficiently sophisticated so that not just some simple variation of the intelligent principle attaches to it, but so that an actual ISBE can use it as a vessel? What criteria must such an IA meet? Certainly there are IA that are no better than crystals or plants as vehicles in the same manner as sophisticated AIs that can not only replace a biological body, but do much more.
