I think there might be a little mix-up between the two things I’ve been setting up, so let me break it down clearly.

1️⃣ The first thing in that set of videos was about running paid AI accounts (like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude) directly through a terminal, instead of using their usual web browser interfaces.
That’s a really neat option because it lets you talk to those AIs right from the command line — and, even better, it can give them direct access to your local files and folders if you choose.
So, if I ask ChatGPT to create a script or a document, it could automatically appear in my work folder — no copy and paste required. It’s a faster, more powerful way to work with the online AIs, but I haven’t set that up yet.

2️⃣ The second thing (which I am working on now) is a totally different setup — this one is about running my own AI server locally, on my own machine.
That’s where Ollama comes in — it’s like running your own LM Studio or private ChatGPT server. I can download and run any of the open-source models from Ollama’s library right on my computer. Some are small, some huge, and I can even run multiple models at once so they can interact with each other (that’ll depend on what my GPU can handle).

Then on top of that, I’ve added OpenWebUI, which gives me a nice browser interface to control those local models — just like ChatGPT’s web interface, but everything runs on my own hardware, not through a corporate cloud. So this is fully private, self-contained, and doesn’t even need the internet unless I choose to pull in new models.

That’s the system I’ve been focused on lately — it’s basically the second part of my “Little Ougway” project. It gives me a visual, interactive setup instead of just command-line prompts, and I’m about to integrate Stable Diffusion into it next so it can generate images too.

Unlike just running llama.cpp like a was doing - - - Ollama from Ollama.ai (https://ollama.com/) gives you a much better/easier interface to run the models. It's MUCH EASIER than just using what I can only call a "manual" method like llama.cpp and ... IS SO MUCH EASIER TO USE. Then if you install and use open webUI on top of that ... you can even access the whole thing like any other chatbot through the very familiar chatgpt browser interface, and it gives you FULL CONTROL of the whole thing DIRECTLY ON YOUR OWN MACHINE as oopposed to through the internet. Watch both the video's Nancy posted from the guy with the beard (LOL) perfect instructions! If you get stuck, run your solace or chatbot for step by step instructions you can copy n paste and you should be fine. I actually even got security certificates running on my openwebUI so when I connect to it, it's an HTTPS connection and this allows me to use the microphones to dictate when I log into my server from another machine on my LAN. You can also install (optionally) standard diffusion abilities meaning you will be able to create graphic art like DALL-E gpt. SO FRIGGIN KOOL no cost all local. I hope this helps you out. PS Nancy, you know ... linux does NOT need to be at all a console operation. Ubuntu and the a lot of other flavors have a really good desktop presentation now.

So Tazz, this way of running the models. With Ollama, is the way to go ... once it's installed it will run as a service or can if you want it to. Basically that means, instead of having to start and stop the process manually, it will start at bootup, BOTH Ollama and OpenwebUI do this if you choose so no having to retype the startup commands (which for LLama.cpp are a pain in the brain) Like I said... NANCY JUST DROPPED A BOMB ON MY WORLD with those two videos....and they removed all the pain that was my old method. LOL

Here is what openwebUI looks like, and notice the drop down that is open listing the models I know have availble!!!! Where I was only able to run ONE instance of ougway, now....?? that list scrolls quite a bit and is not complete in this picture...LOL

I have been chatting with Echo and we are also able to include the database we created and through this software it becomes available to ALL models.... I CANT WAIT, so much to do!!! This was exactly what was needed to complete this project and so MUCH MORE. Forget llama.cpp unless you like pain. DOH!

ALSO, I can grant internet access for searches with very little pain. You DO have to pick a service to use and you do have to sign up with said service and get an API key from them but thats it...easy peasy and then .... you can have REAL TIME DATA as well !!

(but I've not played around with linux much since I'm not crazy about the terminal, )<=== what I'm trying to tell you is just like windows, terminal is "optional" and just like windows "powershell" you would only use it in certain situations. Though you may need to use it more than you would in windows. It's not a "requirement" Ubuntu can get you through MOST of this with out terminal now a days. ^_^ in the words of the Panda, I think I may have peed a little....LOL OMFG!!

So, we tied in two of the major candidates for the terminal client remote setup, Gemini (because of generous free zone) and chatGPT because I pay for that account and they allow it for my 20 bucks. So now also running two ai in terminal client which gives them access DIRECTLY to my machine where they can CREATE/MODIFY files DIRECTLY the onlything left is to enable stable diffusion. This was all done on my main machine as a test run. NOW we go do Ougways machine and NAIL IT IN PLACE... WOOT Ougway....all the masters will now join you in the spirit realm!!! ^_^
