It's been suggested to moderate Forums. Don't know if it is supported in this software, but there are numerous instances where it seems to be appropriate to re-locate obvious off-topic posts to this General forum - rather than deleting them.

Could also dissuade some of the thread high-jacking, where there is a rant-type "reply" which is either (1)unrelated to the post or (2)so different as to warrant it be moved to it's own thread.

I disagree with 'thought police' moderation of forums, but to do simple cleanups, like creating/moving an irrelevant to discussion comment to a relevant thread unchanged makes sense, and has to be done eventually or it'll be a big mess.

A simple" Your off-topic comment on such and such has been moved to its own thread for discussion"
