"What you don't understand about Golf"
I received this message, I don't know how true it is but I thought it was interesting. Feel free to add if you see articles corroborating this. I put the message in my own language because I'm not technically allowed to copy and paste, plus the sender is supposed to be anonymous for now. (Don't get too excited, they're not exactly clandestine haha). PS, I'll probably preface a few posts with this same paragraph.
What you don't understand about golf is why the super rich are so interested in it. You're right to wonder what's the big deal. It's just one sport. The thing is Golf is a great alibi. And when the rich ask each other if they want to go golfing, really it's often code for whether they want to join in some highly immoral, usually downright criminal, behaviour.
A golf course is very fortified. It's heavily guarded by continuous staff at the perimeter, the land is kept open so that anyone attempting to breach the grounds would be caught quickly. The domiciles are kept very closed. Few people think to suspect a golf course. Unlike hotels, a golf course doesn't fall under all the legal codes about residency that a hotel does, and yet people can stay there all year around as long as they can afford it. Mind you, high end hotels often have a similar business anyway.
In these high end golf courses, alcohol and other illicit substances, and the prostitution of minors, are pretty much standard. If they don't have what you're looking for, they can easily ship it in without ever having a record that it was meant for you. They can screen members in any way they see fit. For example: Those initiated into clubs that have psychologically groomed them to keep their secrets. It's appropriate that you should feel a chill when you hear rich people ask each other if they want to go golfing.
