Are there any safeguards in place to eliminate the possibility of this happening? If it's possible channelers can be "hijacked", what's to prevent something similar occurring during remote viewing a target?

I have often wondered about this issue too. I have picked up a few hints and I guess if there was anything thoroughly concrete you would have to keep a bit quiet about it.

I think the first thing to say is that Remote Viewing is a process of engaging with an unknown target that can be anything, anywhere at any time as a matter of waking, conscious choice. Reality can be interacted with, even different timelines are 'real' in this sense, and the reality is not fabricated. Channeling is a different process enabling someone or something to speak through you. The channeler has sacrificed or relinquished some control and can be shown things or spoken to or through by an entity who has been 'invited in across the threshold'. The channeler is not directing the experience. Because the entity is adept at neurological control or at least telepathy the channeler is made to feel special, blessed, chosen. The feelings of having a spiritual contact remove resistance in the form of objective and critical interventions. Cynicism would be churlish, rude, and feel sacrilegious.

If you have not experienced channeling I am trying to think of something that might be similar - the crazy feeling of having fallen in love (total infatuation) we experience when we are young for instance. Inner chemistry is changed and the senses are overpowered. Reality is bent out of shape and yet we cannot see the experiences as illusory until the magic is dissipated. On the other hand, Remote Viewing prizes calm mindfulness and is not about entering an 'ecstatic' state. Any thoughts from people with real experience here is gratefully accepted as I am reading between the lines.

Courtney has mentioned help with getting through telepathic blocks and has suggested protections are also in place for people who make dangerous contacts. Whether these things are explicit or inferred I do not know as he has not elaborated on this.

I used to read a great deal about Western Occultism and the kind of protections practitioners put in place to avoid physical and psychic interventions from entities. Much of the work in practical Occultism was related to Astral traveling and moving consciousness through the Kabbalistic tree of life and also through realms - dimensions - they related to elemental forces. From my perspective it seems more than likely that they were interacting with ETs as well as other beings or forces. Dion Fortune, a famous Occultist, wrote a book called Psychic Self-Defence which is amazingly down to earth and practical.

So - like you I have been thinking about this topic. I have heard a couple of the Farsight team mention experience with astral travel which is quite different from RV and in this methodology I understand - not know - that there are potential dangers and ancient techniques for avoiding trouble.
