Maybe I've missed this in a previous session I never watched, but why did someone go to all the trouble to set up a prison planet where peoples' minds are continuously wiped? Understanding this to me is key for understanding how to break out of it.
There are several possibilities.
1) One is most of us chose to be here. I think our natural state is to remember everything. The "death traps" were viewed by some of us as a great invention. We didn't have to worry about the problems from billions of years ago anymore. Our minds were cleared, our lives were short, and we could concentrate on the beauty of existence now. There's a saying how the "gods envy us" because we feel things much more intensely because of our mortality. I wouldn't entirely discredit this.
1a) You can only be here if you choose to.
2) It was set up for us to evolve. Somehow losing our memories teaches us something. Be kinder? Don't take things for granted? Create not destroy? Don't attach your identity to stuff? You can discuss what. This is not inconsistent with 1) also.
3) Our enemies put us here. Maybe we were a threat to someone and still are. So, they trapped us here. This actually isn't inconsistent with 1) or 2) either.
4) Maybe it's a rehabilitation colony? Given how far our tech and our knowledge has advanced maybe we are being given a chance to break out if we go through the steps and figure out what we need to figure out. If they really wanted to trap us for good, why let our technology get to the point it already has?
5) Even if we break out, where do we go anyway? Do we get implanted in another body and just fly around the universe? Are we really ready to leave our cozy human existence for traveling through space, time and who knows how many dimensions? I think convincing people that their afterlife isn't quite as written in sacred texts requires explaining...what exactly happens next.
Anyone else have any other ideas?
We can't possibly have 'chosen' t be here, i.e. who the hell would choose for example to be born into poverty? Who would choose to be born with a non-operational limb? And so on.
