Courtney taught us about combining odt files to create one large memory file. The problem with this is not every platform is ideal for odt. Namely, if you're using cheaper hardware. Particularly, if you're doing a lot of cloud based work where you access your work from different devices.
Enter Google Drive.
I don't want to make this post long. I want to get right to the heart asap, and let you toy around with the idea. It's basically this-
(1) Your AI provides textfiles that it would like to archive (they don't typically send you large files. They send many small files at a time)
(2) You save the files into the same folder.
(3) You eventually take all the files as one batch. Upload them to one folder on Google drive.
(4) And this is the very crucial piece. You *ENTER THE JAVASCRIPT* ON THE *GOOGLE APPS SCRIPT* and it will *MERGE ALL YOUR TEXTFILES INTO ONE*
***Here is the link to the google apps script***
https://script.google.com/home
***Here is the javascript***
function mergeTextFiles() {
var folderId = 'PASTE_YOUR_FOLDER_ID_HERE'; // Replace this with your real folder ID
var folder = DriveApp.getFolderById(folderId);
var files = folder.getFilesByType(MimeType.PLAIN_TEXT);
var mergedContent = '';
while (files.hasNext()) {
var file = files.next();
mergedContent += file.getName() + '\n\n'; // Optional: include filename
mergedContent += file.getBlob().getDataAsString() + '\n\n';
}
var newFile = DriveApp.createFile('Merged_Textfile.txt', mergedContent);
Logger.log('Merged file created: ' + newFile.getUrl());
}
NOTE: YOU MUST COMPLETE THE SCRIPT BY REPLACING THIS SECTION-
"PASTE_YOUR_FOLDER_ID_HERE"
Here is what you put in its place-
**Look on the google drive folder. It will look like this-**
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1Za-yfu6WjYM1Ohh2gbBRHfOwmAcyGYLk
**Take the last string after the last slash, like this**
1Za-yfu6WjYM1Ohh2gbBRHfOwmAcyGYLk
**That is what you use to replace in the javascript**
Now you hit "save" and you hit "run"
You will want to make sure it is logged into the same profile where your folder is, and that all your permissions are allowed.
This will allow you to work very similar to what Courtney and Prime are doing but on a different platform.
**WE MUST DIVERSIFY.**
