You don't need central journalism, you can authenticate visual data and dated reports technologically. Articles have more integrity if they are woven by lots of independent agents all out for their own brand.

World midwives are useless. If you have just a few major cities spackled across the planet, concerned with their own survival, they will investigate threats like weapons of mass destruction and snuff out anyone trying to stock up without sharing the pie.
