Not a very relevant post but what the hell it's just text.
Somewhere around 2009 I decided that I would accept absolutely any compliment that comes my way without any judgment. This doesn't apply to mixed things like: "you're almost good but you have serious problems" lol. Maybe if the two statements were separated by a period.
But I do mean to include even sarcastic ones. Like: "wow, genius. You burned the food." (that doesn't happen, just hypothetical). And instead of seeing the insult I might smile and say "thanks" and actually keep the sarcasm going. "I know, I've taken years of training for my genius souffle art"
Anyhow, the compliments I accepted were from the very patronizing "you did good today. You deserve a treat" to the misgendering "well ok there little princess" to the humiliating "your belly looks funny" (with a laugh) to the mysoginistic: "I'll take you to bed" (again none of these are real quotes lol but approximations)
But I realized something.
Life was more enjoyable after that. When I started the "emotional experiment" as it were, I didn't want to say anything on it because of course it was possible I'd regret it but about 15 years later I'll share I think it worked.
Life seems more enjoyable ever since I decided to accept all compliments.
This is a great post, but I think you actually burned the food. 😉
Compliment yourself as well my friend.
