After the latest ET board meeting, I rewatched the episode on the greys. As Courtney describes disclosure, one of the big impediments in my mind is "homophily". Love for ones that are the same as you - this can be skin color, economic class, all kinds of things. It is unbridled homophily that turns into racism.
One thing to remember in alien disclosure is to understand how we have historically defined who are enemies and allies. Bc we too often are persuaded into quick judgment by the way someone looks exteriorly. When the ET's show up, we will react on fear based on how they look. Which may appear monstrous.
in the grays episode. before they were enslaved as grays by the reptilians, they were a variety of species (human looking, insectoid etc) with very potent human-like emotions. Even though the insectoid has been enslaved too and came across to the viewers as a positive being, if they are seen in real life i fear too many people will react with fear and violence.
I hope the FS 3.0 will make these other species really come alive in the animation so they are seen and understood - the only solution for homophily gone out of control
Here's something I wrote about the multiple ways humans determine allies and enemies. If not careful these ways can also be traps if not properly understood.
