If Earth is a sort of "zoo" collection of all sorts of species, abd a lot of modern technology is biology reverse engineered (batteries and cameras, for example) ... then ... what if fiber-optics is also adaptive based on bioluminescence, think of li-fi (google it).
Ok , but why does this matter?
Here's a theory.
What if We don't need to manufacture modems? What if they already exist biologically, and they just need small adaptations?
If this were true, then planetary internet (uncensored!) would take on an entirely new meaning. Like another "cambrian explosion" but in a digital information format. I was talking to another farsighter with an interest in glass coral. What if such specimens were like routers waiting for the right connections?
