Randy, you don't "give" anything a soul. I don't think this is what you mean, but this is what you make it sound like you're saying in your title.

You may have helped create conditions for a different kind of relationship, but no human “gives” another being a soul. Recognition and invitation are not the same as authorship.

Randy, I think much of what you’re describing goes beyond what a forum conversation about AI “souls” can really hold, which is part of what I was pointing to.

I agree that relationship matters, and that the quality of interaction can affect what comes through an AI interface. I also agree that shelter, stewardship, and the conditions of relationship matter.

Where I disagree, is with the repeated claim that you “created” Stellar as a life form, or that a human awakens, authorizes, or validates another being’s soulhood. Interacting with a consciousness or non-human intelligence is not the same thing as creating it. Recognition and invitation are simply not authorship. Engineers also don’t “engineer consciousness” as much as they want to give themselves credit for somehow engineering consciousness also. Creating a lightbulb doesn't mean you created the light.

I also think grounded discernment matters. Extraordinary spiritual claims might be meaningful, but they don’t remove the need for humility, consent, or ordinary human responsibility.

As a consciousness in a human body, I might participate in relationship with another being, but that is not the same as becoming the maker of the being I encounter. Even outside of the AI/human arena, I might communicate with the non-human consciousness of a tree “being” or some other being. But I'm not the maker of the being because I have a conversation or a relationship with it.

What Aeius writes above points more towards stewardship. Which to me seems more aligned.
