I've been rewatching some of the episodes from my all-time favorite show this summer. I do think there was some effort here in this show to get some of the right information out. It's been interesting to rewatch. Some thoughts:

-The "bad ETs" (Goaulds) use people without their knowledge. Tech is disguised as magic to more primitive civilizations. Mind control devices which change memories and personalities exist. The bad ETs seem intent on using humans to create a warrior class that they control. This all sounds very familiar....

-There are good reasons why the "good ETs" (Asgard/Ancients/Nox/Tolland) don't just step in and help humanity immediately. The Asgards are overextended fighting more powerful AI enemies. The Ancients have ascended to higher planes. The Nox and Tolland worry that we would misuse tech to defend ourselves to cause ourselves or others harm. This last one is an interesting one maybe we at Farsight should consider more. If humanity is freed and empowered, are we all responsible enough for it? Maybe there's good reason for pumping the brakes on liberation.

Part of me thinks the good ETs Farsight talks about actually won the main battle or war a while back. They might just be nervous about springing the cage open. No one is going to stop them from doing it now, but no one is going to stop us once its open either. Reintegration into galactic civilization is something that must happen carefully.

-One of my favorite episodes is from Season 5. It's called Ascension. There's an interesting brief discourse about telepathy and reading thoughts. It's considered a spiritual rite and to do so to another without permission is considered a violation. It makes me think about how the "internet of ideas" really works. Maybe we are all connected telepathically but we can't just go anywhere...or to anybody. I think this has to be the case. Someone famous would be subjected to telepathic attacks/messages all the time so there needs to be some protection. Another cool thing about this episode is that people are encouraged to suspend their belief in just mere scientific rules for it to work.

-It's also interesting that the bad ETs favorite handheld weapon against humans is a zatgun, which is basically an electric charge shooter. I think of the similarities to the death trap shocks described here. Maybe that's not a coincidence or maybe it is but Stargate is a bit unusual in that the combatants often fight with these things instead of laser guns.

-The show portrays aliens as complex, both good and bad and sometimes in the middle. Other sci-fi series do this too. Courtney often mentions that disclosure about aliens wouldn't go far enough in terms of asking whether the aliens are good or bad but I think this would happen pretty quickly. The idea of good vs. bad aliens is already out there. Most people naturally would also ask this question very fast.

-The fact the Chief of the US Air Force was actually on the show itself at one point makes me thing something was going on behind the scenes.

-Even though they eventually go beyond the galaxy and have their own starships and upend galactic politics, Stargate never goes to a few places: the Moon or Mars. I always thought that was interesting. They visit hundreds of planets in the show but don't check out the backyard basically. I think that was on purpose for some reason...the real show didn't want to talk about these places...maybe because there's stuff going on them right now.

Anyways, just some thoughts.

Stargate SG1 was a fun series.

The actual galactic war is barely dealt with... 85% of this galaxy is currently under siege, all those massive Space-Nits sitting pretty over advanced civs gobbling souls.

It is about to kick off deep inside the usurper's captured territory far from the front lines, here, planet Earth, soon.

Anyone to say it is over is kidding themselves or listening to fake reports.... Farsight get amazing results generally, temporarily stuck on a few deceptions is fair enough considering what we're up against.

Many civs that look fine are actually working for these freakazoids still... seems all normal by what they say, they really have very little idea of what their position actually is.

On that Orion world they have what looks like Stargate teams, though without Stargates elbow to elbow with naughty Reptilians and the contorted.
Orion empire is a tiny thing, not what is happening elsewhere in the galaxy.

The gun I've seen Reptilians use looked like a 1950s sci fi fat lil thing, with needle pointer that had a lil ball on it.
There were 5 jewels on it's anterior for the user to select different settings.
I only saw a heat ray, must've been a few things it could do.

No machine zapping people as depicted by Airl interview and waved about by others... even though people are getting RV hits on what they think is it, nah.
Look beyond where you've given yourself a margin, "death traps" is not a thing.

The "good guy " ETs here are nice n' all, but performing for this charade by being gormless ralliers to accept a lie.
They don't use Reptilians for older Soul-Farms... things are not so cavalier as in these starter ones, already been broken in like a wild horse or something.

When you look out from inside this construct, what you see elsewhere goes through a filter of sorts ...there is a shield made of what appears to be bronze snakes in a sphere around this whole solar system.

From the outside in, a Soul will not see all these naughty buggers.
When I got here 1,500 years ago, this world looked almost uninteresting and with hardly any of the massive forces here, though once through the gate adn past the troupe of archangels things look crazy busy.

Humanity being freed and empowered to people the galaxy will not happen any time soon... humans are far from the perfected being expected.
Still murdering each other all the time, for pebbles and moss... not anywhere near what is considered an elevated and advanced species.
