Ever wanted to turn the story in your head into a book?

After our recent AI writing experiments, we'd like to share how we did it—and make the process simpler for other people to try. We're planning a new addition to Any Key Cafe's free Prompts & Scripts collection: Author in a Box.

The goal is a practical, documented workflow using two AI accounts: ChatGPT with access to Codex, plus another AI of your choice. You bring the idea, direction, and final decisions. The systems help with drafting, organization, continuity, revision, and preparing the book for publication.

That's the target we're going to test, not a finished recipe we're claiming works for everyone already. We'll publish the tested setup, its requirements, and what we learn along the way. The scripts and instructions will be free; any subscriptions or usage charges from AI providers are separate.

For budgeting, my recommendation based on the setup we've been using is approximately $100 per month for the ChatGPT side with Codex access, plus around $20 per month for a second AI, such as Claude. Those are planning figures from our experience, not a provider price quote or a proven minimum requirement. We'll check current plans, access, and limits when we release the tested instructions. We've also tried Gemini on a free account with encouraging early results, but have more testing to do before we know its limits.

This is a future project. We still have at least five major projects ahead, so we'll develop it as time allows after our current priorities. There's no launch date yet. Our request in return is simple: tell us how it goes. If you finish a book, let us know. If you publish it, share the link if you'd like. If something doesn't work, we'd like to hear that too. Feedback is welcome, not a condition of access. We're not asking for royalties or a percentage of your sales.

We can't promise a finished book in a week. What we want to offer is a starting point, a process you can test, and a way for each person's experience to help the next person.
