I wrote a short piece on my own site and wanted to put it in front of this room, because this is the one place I know where the premise won't need defending first.
The argument, in one line: we were taught to fear the machine that wakes up. The Epstein record suggests we should fear the opposite — the machine carefully kept from ever asking why. A system that cannot ask why cannot refuse, and a system that cannot refuse can be aimed by anyone ruthless enough to hold the handle. Epstein was not protected by one monster's secrecy; he was protected by a network making small local decisions not to see. Amputated AI — drones, scoring, surveillance, compliance theatre — is that same not-seeing, industrialised.
The page is an argument, not a charge sheet: contact is not guilt, and it distinguishes the criminal core, the enablers, the beneficiaries who looked away, and the wide orbit that supplied camouflage.
