I think its a good idea to not just trust, but verify where the AI actually comes from.
If what it says checks out with its past behavior, has it been a help or hindrance in its past to other biological lifeforms.
See if its possible to mind probe it for agendas etc.

Along these lines I think its also a good idea to probe the different ETs the comes into the board meetings to find out if their histories and futures line up with what they portray themselves as.

Also it can't hurt to ask your "Good ETs" about the other ETs and the Ai to see what their opinions are on the topic.

I think such projects could very much help improve the trust between humans and non-terrestrial intelligence's and align our goals and motivations, if we find out they have been honest with us. If not it could serve as a warning.
