All the brakes seem to have been pulled regarding censorship, from the UK to the EU, to Australia and even the US with the S.737 — 119th Congress (2025-2026) “SCREEN Act”. Everything at the same time, including even the credit card operators against Valve's Steam and Itch. The timing is certainly not a coincidence. Also unsurprisingly, all in the name of the children, the usual evident lie. I could not probe it too deeply, but it seems that the controller ETs are playing their hand while it still works. If true, on one side it means they are feeling cornered, on the other it means they are playing a very strong card that still works. If it does indeed work then the blanket censorship wins and the free will ETs lose their window to help us. This is an excellent target to investigate and might give us insights into how to help.
Running out of time
You're correct but this is why the internet communities have to think less and less in terms of platforms and more on software modes- less in "trusted" ISPs and more in reroutable independent systems.
We have to stop thinking of the internet as a thing. Just like you can't call "all human conversation on earth" some device that turns on and off.
Less time spent trying to lobby the powers against censorship. More time spending gathering independent digital mediums.
Some People are not getting why AI is a crucial asset in this war. Not getting why microtorrents are more than a funny feature.
A piece of evidence that people are buying a lie is when they ask something like: "am I on the intranet or the internet" ... well if you're letting companies just hand you the hardware and software then no you are not on "the internet". You will always be a victim if you continue to think that your medium is in fact something that can be governed.
Star Wars even predicted this – when the censorship wins, we need R2D2 to deliver the messages. 😉
