Let's collect ideas. Here's what I would do:
1. Disclose ships.
2. Fight the hot war (which will make the good ETs look bad).
3. After the bad ETs are defeated, leave Earth and put the planet under quarantine.
4. Let humans be baffled why the ETs left instead of conquering the planet. Leave some technology with an encrypted message behind that will take humans some years to decrypt.
5. Let humans develop without bad ET influence. When humans eventually decrypt the message, it will give an explanation why Earth was attacked and why the invaders didn't conquer it.
This "plan" is built on the assumption that defeating the bad ETs and putting the planet under quarantine is possible. I see a high probability that a quarantine is not possible, and that bad ET influence can't be removed that easily.
My guess is that the so called good ETs are already implementing some variation of the "let humans decrypt it" plan, because disclosure is way more convincing if you find the information yourself. As far as I'm concerned, they don't force disclosure upon us, but "guide" it by making the stuff that's going wrong really obvious, so people can't ignore it any longer, and then let humans sort it out.
I still have no idea how to deal with the death traps, as I have not enough information about how they operate. It's a little bit discouraging that even the highly advanced ETs can't find them, at least that's what they tell us. It actually doesn't make much sense: They can remote view and break protection measures of everything, but they can't find the death traps? My guess is that they know where they are, but they can't disable them for whatever reason.
I'm still wondering wether it has something to do with the moon, and disabling the death traps means to destroy the moon. If that's the case, it will complicate everything.
