WHAT CAN YOU DO?
When I find myself observing the misery in the world, I occasionally come across the remark: yes, but what can I actually do about it?
Higher Ground
I understand that feeling very well.
Indeed, you cannot turn the tide. Or stop a tsunami. Certainly not on your own. You feel powerless.
But you can seek higher ground.
You can make sure that you yourself become the change you want to see in the world. That may not seem like much, but even that can create ripples that travel far.
And once you see that, you can do A LOT. And it gives you power over your own life.
Let me give you some examples.
10 Things You Can Do
1. First and foremost: take good care of yourself.
There are endless ways to do this — from eating well and spending more time outdoors (sunlight is health) to forgiving yourself for the mistakes you’ve made in your life. Do enjoyable things together more often. Watch a comedy instead of the news.
2. Speak your truth as much as possible and share information with one another.
3. Be kind to others.
Say “thank you” more often to people who do something for you. Give compliments more freely. What a lovely dress you’re wearing! Give someone a small gift now and then, just because. Hug someone instead of the usual polite kisses.
4. Buy organic food whenever possible, or grow it yourself.
Try to become as independent as you can from centralized systems (“off-grid”). Filter your drinking water.
5. Move your money away from the “big players.”
Invest in physical gold, silver, crypto, real estate.
6. Take control of your privacy.
Ditch Windows and switch to Linux. Use a VPN — also on your phone. Use open-source software (LibreOffice). Use Mike Adams’ AI (Brighteon.ai) instead of the big tech platforms.
7. Decentralize. Downscale. Live smaller. Clear out unnecessary possessions. Engage in local politics.
8. Pay cash whenever possible.
Card payments feed the banks. Instead: barter. Buy and operate locally as much as you can. Avoid loans and buying on credit. Save first — then pay in full.
9. Use incandescent light bulbs instead of LEDs.
LED lighting is harmful to your eyes and may negatively affect sleep and circadian rhythm.
10. Keep a supply of food at home (freeze-dried is the most practical), and have a “bug-out bag” ready.
These small changes give you more power and will inspire other people.
