"The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil."
– Hannah Arendt
German version:
Quote @Amalynn:
"The hope that remains alive to me is that consciousness itself is not ultimately controllable."
Yes. If you listen to your heart, you already know. But you can also get it logically: Everything in existence stems from one source. Imagine God splitting into two beings, like cell division after fertilization. God didn't do that to have being A control being B, or vice versa. It would be like having your left arm control your right arm. It doesn't make sense.
But at some point, after the beings became self-aware, the idea of controlling others was born. Imagine a body at war with itself. In medical terms, it's called an auto-immune disease.
So, evil is like an infection inside existence itself. It's based on the idea that the initial state of being is the fractured one, where one believes that it has to control the other. It's essentially the idea that there are two Gods, which breaks the initial assumption that everything stems from one source.
If you subscribe to the belief that the initial state must be fractured, you will stay in the state of spiritual auto-immune disease... and it will kill you again and again. It's the state of neverending war. It's neverending until you accept the truth that fracture is not the initial state.

"The matrix system is 'good vs evil'."
No. Good and evil are natural phenomenon. Good means to live in symmetry (in harmony) with the rights of others. Evil means to live in asymmetry (not in harmony) with the rights of others.
This logic has nothing to do with a place. Those are principles that work the same everywhere.
If you now think that what I just wrote is contradictory, let me explain why it's not:
To me, the terms "evil" and "negative" are not the same thing. Evil is a destructive force based on the false belief of authority (one being must control the other). Negative is the opposite of positive. Where there is a plus, there also is a minus, in order to be able to balance the whole.
Many people belief that evil is part of this balance. They conflate evil and negative. I think this is wrong. Evil is what is contradicting the idea of balance, and therefore cannot be part of it.
In other words: You can only reach balance if you are not evil. But that doesn't mean that there's no negativity, or destruction, in nature. Destructive forces don't have to be evil. A simple example is self-defense: You are destructive against the attacker in order to protect yourself or others. It's a good thing.
