We should come to terms about what "physical" actually means, because it gets really confusing when people talk about formless existence, non-physical dimensions, and stuff like that.
As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing in existence that is formless, except for what I call a "singularity", which is the only non-physical way of being.
This means that everything that is not a singularity, is a physical being or phenomenon.
For example, a radio wave is a physical phenomenon, because it has form. The form of the wave is interacting with other physical forms. The form is the reason why interaction is possible. You can even "touch" a radio wave. The fact that you don't feel anything if you touch it with your hand, for instance, doesn't mean that there's no interaction happening. It's just that the interaction doesn't result in changes that you can perceive. But if you use an antenna instead, attached to a radio device, you will get changes that you can perceive more easily.
The singularity on the other hand can't touch anything, because it has no dimensions.
The ISBE, at its core, is a singularity. This is the reason why ISBEs can't be killed. They are untouchable. But existing as a singularity alone doesn't make much sense (literally), because in that state, you can't touch anything. You have no effect in the physical world, regardless of the realm, plane, dimension, or however you would call it.
Every plane of existence is a physical plane from its perspective, because whatever is happening in that plane, has form.
So, in order to be able to have an effect inside a plane of existence, you have to have form. The ISBE therefore "projects" a form into the plane. It becomes physical, because being physical is the only way to do stuff. For example, what people call an "astral body" actually is a physical body on the astral plane.
But this comes with a downside: The physical form by definition is touchable, and this means it's destructible. One form can destroy another, by means of so-called destructive wave interference. This means that no form is built for eternity. It only lasts as long as the ISBE is able to maintain it.
This way of looking at physicality solves many problems, especially the problem of identification.
How do you identify a singularity? You can't. But a form, by its very nature, is always recognizable. An ISBE projects a reptilian body? Well, then it's a reptilian, of course.
This means that every target of remote viewing is a physical target – because you aren't looking at the formless. You want to see something, identify something. If this wasn't the case, you would end up with a blank paper.
In other words: Form is the reason why things happen. The source wants to express form. That's what it's all about.
